Shopify Apps And Are They Safe?

Shopify Apps And Are They Safe?

Shopify is your go to eCommerce platform, and it's great for those who have a creative streak. You create your own store to your liking (but also keep in mind of your potential customers and your niche). You create your own listings whether it's a niche store or you sell everything and anything. With Shopify you have 100% full control of your business and you can create your own brand. Shopify has low fees (under 3%) and you would need to do your own marketing and advertisements to scale your business.

On top of all that, Shopify has the best tools, apps, and much more to help you get even more sales with your store. Since a lot of Shopify sales will come from mobile, Shopify already optimizes your store for mobile. It's fast, efficient and organized. But, let's get to the meat and potatoes and talk about Shopify apps and are they safe?

Now, you would expect that Shopify being a pretty decent sized platform would look into all apps that are submitted. However, we don't think they really look far much into it until recently. As a  business owner that uses Shopify, you have high expectations when it comes to using any of the apps that Shopify has. You're expecting that these apps are reliable and will get the job done that you need it to do. Well, that's not the case at all, at least from personal experience.

One app we used, its use was to upload bulk items, place the orders for you, and fulfill the items. Well, I can tell you for certainty, that was absolutely not the case for the most part. Orders were not being places and fulfilled. When we tried reaching out to their customer service- well they were non-existent. A second app we used, it was all great, bulk uploads, order placing and fulfillment- all the works. The only downside of the app was everyday more and more products we're becoming unlisted because they were no longer able to provide. It wasn't just one or two, here and there. It was HANDFUL of them, EVERYDAY.

Back in April of this year, Shopify removed 1.5% of apps that did not their standards of trust and integrity. That alone raises some concern, why weren't those standards implemented in the first place? Well, Shopify has spoken out and will be making changes when it comes to the requirements of apps to help better serve the business consumer.

We have used tons of other apps that are simply amazing and exceed our expectations on Shopify. For the most part Shopify apps are safe to use but you would need to be extremely diligent and do your research, and not just within the Shopify app store. Research the apps elsewhere too.
